Tuition & Fees

The College Affordability and Transparency Center is a helpful resource to assist prospective students in determining the affordability and value of higher education institutions. Students may use the College Scorecard to find comparative information in order to make informed decisions when choosing an institution. The information is based on different variables and can be confusing to interpret. UCC’s College Scorecard data reflects an economic period when students requested federal loan aid at a rate much higher than today (more loans leads to a higher cost of education). We believe the cost of education at UCC remains very competitive in serving our residents of Douglas County. Visit the College Affordability and Transparency Center.

Explanation of Fees

At UCC, a student may be required to pay for fees in addition to tuition. Credit classes require some “per credit” fees; term fees are charged each term; and course fees are associated with a specific class.

Student Resources Fee

The Student Resources Fee is composed of the combination of the following four fees:

Athletic Fee

Supports student engagement in athletic events, utilization of the athletic facilities (fitness center, pool during open swim).

Student Activity Fee

Paid by students taking credit classes, this fee helps fund the operations of the Student Life office and supports student activities (including athletics). The fee funds the college contract with Umpqua Transit, which provides credit students with a reduced priced bus pass for the term.

Student Fee for SUCCESS Program

Paid by students taking credit classes, this fee supports the Success Center and Peer Mentor program.

Technology Fee

Provides for the upkeep and renewal of campus technology infrastructure in support of classrooms, computer labs, and campus information systems.

Legacy Fee

The fee will be used to fund new construction on campus and deferred maintenance on existing buildings.

Instructional Fee

Paid by students taking credit classes, this fee supports the cost associated with labs and lecture/lab class formats.

Credit Registration Fee

This fee is charged each term to students who enroll in undergraduate credit classes. The proceeds go toward placement testing, degree/certificate application process, academic transcripts, degree verifications, and other record keeping.

Student Insurance Fee

This fee covers the premium for accident insurance while students are involved in college classes and activities, or traveling on college business. For more information, contact the Student Life Office at 541-440-7749.

UCC Online & Hybrid Class Fees

Fees pay for costs associated with providing students with online courses, including the delivery platform.

Course Fees

Course fees pay for the materials & supplies associated with the class you are taking (ie: lab supplies for a Science class or liability insurance for Nursing). Some courses are offered as self support and carry a fee amount that is required for course delivery and materials.

Credit Tuition Refunds
Students who withdraw from one or more UCC courses and who have complied with regulations governing withdrawals are entitled to certain refunds of tuition depending on the time of withdrawal. Refunds are limited to students who comply with withdrawal procedures. See Withdrawals in the college catalog. Full tuition is refunded if withdrawal is made by the end of the last working day the first week of fall, winter, spring and summer terms. For courses meeting less than 10 weeks the refund is prorated by the Registrar. No tuition refund will be made if withdrawal is made after these times.

Refunds in all cases are calculated from the date of application for a refund. It is not calculated from the date a student ceases to attend classes. The only exception is in an unusual case where delay occurred for reasons beyond the student’s control. Students will receive full tuition refunds for courses cancelled, when appropriate.

With the exception of students paying by credit card through Higher One, all refunds will be issued in the form of a check payable to the student, regardless of the original form of payment or who paid for the course. If a third party sponsored agreement is set up with the Finance Office, refunds will be issued in the form of check to a third party.

Refunds to students paying by credit card through Higher One will be credited back to the credit card.

Credit Fee Refunds
Full fees for credit classes shall be refunded if withdrawal is made during the first week of class. No fees shall be refunded if withdrawal is after the first week. Fee refunds in all cases are calculated from the date of the application for refund. They are not calculated from the date the student ceases to attend.
